What is origin of GEOSOX?
We started in 2024 with a goal to raise funds for Ice Age interpretive signage for our county's parks and preserves. Our fantastic geological maps begged to be seen and understood. So why not let them be seen as socks! People loved them and over $4000 was raised in our first year for signage. GEOSOX was born!
Is it true that GEOSOX gives a portion of your proceeds to local causes?
Absolutely! Every map tells a story of a place and all the beings that reside there. When we find a map we want to use, it's easy to connect it to a cause. We were very excited to partner with Michigan SeaGrant to turn their Great Lakes Basin watershed map into a puzzle. $5 from the sale of every puzzle sold goes to support their work to protect the Great Lakes.
Do you provide customized solutions for local gift shops?
Perhaps. We always start with GREAT maps. From there we've been successful with sock and puzzle projects. Are there other things we'd be willing to try? It never hurts to ask. Our core mission is all about transforming fantastic maps into beautiful, fun, and educational products. Beyond that who knows what we can do together.
Can you offer wholesale pricing?
Yes, is the simple answer. But it often comes down to volume. For example, it is ideal for us to combine numerous small orders into one large one to keep production costs down. We are not a large scale operation, so much as we are a community of people who love great maps and want to celebrate them with fun products. We want those products to offer solid margins, while still giving back in some way. We also have a goal to work with US-based producers whenever possible. We default to wanting product that's "Made in the USA."
